Everyone seems to be giving their opinions on how the law is a good idea, but might not be effective. Here is my idea.
Instead of making a law banning texting while driving, how about making a law requiring cell phone manufacturers to have software installed that can detect speed and simply disables texting at certain speeds? (they have gps, bluetooth and everything else...this is possible too)
Or, should the laws continue to focus on the individual?
Just until today I got ran off the road by someone who was talking on her cell phone. She switched lanes without checking her mirrors and a brief look over the shoulder to ensure she was changing lanes safely... 3 months ago a lady ran into the back of my car in a traffic jam. She was texting at the moment and did not notice her car was in motion. I always try to avoid talking on the phone, not to mention texting, but recently I tried to DWT ( Drive While Texting) and the experience wasn't pretty at all. While writing a short text message on my sidekick phone to a friend, I ran a stop light. It happened so fast that I couldn't avoid it.
What about you: Does talking on the phone limit your driving skills, and do you feel talking on the phone while driving should be banned in all states?

For those who worry that Sarah Palin is going to become the next dictator of the United States or will lead the fascist yahoos of the Republican Party and the Religious Right to create something akin to the society of "The Handmaid's Tale," I really would not be too concerned.
As we look at the upcoming Obama administration, it will do us well to remember that the main power groups of the Democratic Party which will call the shots for at least the next four years, and more likely the next 40, include the following: Labor unions, environmentalists, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the hardcore Religious Left, and ACORN. All of these groups are united in their visceral hatred for free markets and for personal liberty in general (except in areas of sexual freedom and in the "freedom" to kill unborn children).
These groups will be unchecked in their Grand Vision that they intend to impose on the rest of us. Not only will Obama and Congress make sure that the Big Three automakers survive in some form, but their political allies will make sure that the other auto plants in this country owned by foreign subsidiaries are smashed beyond recognition.
Al Gore wants to destroy most of the current productive capabilities of electricity and also require us to drive electric cars, despite the fact that the laws of science (not to mention the laws of economics) tell us that his Grand Plan is unattainable.
Obama says that one of his first executive orders will be to declare carbon dioxide to be a "dangerous pollutant," which means all people are "dangerous polluters." Sooner or later, this government will force all of us to purchase "carbon credits" or face criminal consequences for polluting the earth with our exhaling.
The Obama campaign sought to have criminal charges filed against people who they claimed ran "false" television advertisements" against him. Congress plans to bring back the Fairness Doctrine, and I am sure that there will be other sanctions, criminal and otherwise, against dissenters.
Perhaps the Obama State will recall troops fighting abroad, and I hope that is the case. However, people with this kind of Grand Vision are not going to be satisfied if just Americans are doing their part to stop the supposed march to disaster through Global Warming. If the Chinese and others refuse to stop building those Satanic coal-burning electric generation stations, then I would not be surprised to see a "Green" retaliation against such environmental miscreants.
No, by the time this upcoming hard-left government is through with us, Sarah Palin will not be a threat. In fact, whatever it was that she was espousing will look pretty good compared to what we are about to have imposed upon us. But, don't fear; there will be no U.S. Government led by Sarah Palin.

I listened to Obama's speech on it, and I heard what he said. He believes that (as said on Wiki link) that ALL women and men should have to sign up for the military at 18.
And at 18, they WILL be shipped out one way or another (whether it be to Africa, Afghanistan or community service.)
You don't have a choice where you go when you are in the military. It's common knowledge.

I mean people who are culturally differerent, or who may be percieved to be culturally different, so yes race could present the greatest barrier in that a white candidate of non uk heritage may be more culturally differient then a black candidate, but the black candidate could be percieved to be more culturally different because of their appearance.
My fear would be not so much rascism, as change weary xenophobia, particulaly now, as during times of economic downturn people may find comfort in traditional qualities, although to what extent i don't know.

After catching them from the river, (I catched them near my cottage in the countryside) we bought them to my house (in Tokyo) by car. I kept them at a prastic box with a lid in my garden. A few days after, I went to my garden to check on them, but the box was empty, I was sure that I had close the lid when I put the box in my garden. I know that procambarus clarkiis have big chelis. However, I closed the lid and the box was made of plastic. I thought that they could not clamber up such a slippery wall. I am still wondering how they fled through it.
It is said that dogs have the intelligence of three year old child. I have no doubt whatsover that your dogs understand what you are saying. A friend of mine kept a dog, she said to me " my dog can understand not only what I am saying but also a situation. When we have a row, he starts barking very loud. he breaks in on our argument to try to stop it. I had been found of dogs until I stared keeping my dog, now I know how pretty, smart, nice they are. They are so lovely, I can hardly imaigine that I live without keeping my dog."

We all will decide on our own - but since knowledge is power, I am passing this along...
A question of perspective :
Obama/Biden v.s. McCain/Palin, what if things were switched around?..... think about it. Would the country's collective point of view be different? Could racism be the culprit? Ponder the following:
· What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three-month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
· What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
· What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
· What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
· What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards?
· What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
· What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to painkillers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
· What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
· What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)
· What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
· What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?
· What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashi ng seven planes?
· What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
· What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution?
· What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?
· You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

This is the sequel to the previous Question I had, about the Fieldtrip to a German Concert, I guess. This is more things I have noticed about the girl I like & it happned last year & this year as well:
1] This one bugged me a bit. It happened last year in my German 2 Class, I was a Junior & she was a Sophomore. We had to answer a question about where you would like to visit. Since I am half Slavadorean/Mexican, I said "El Slavador". The girl I like said out loud "Yeah! or Yay" or something like that. This followed up to my Senior Year(this year), in German 3. Her guy friend asked what my race was. I wasn't embarrased to answer & the girl I like sits next to me & in front of the guy. I said what I was was & Salvadorean was the last part I said & she said the same thing like last year. I am a bit confused.
2] This happened about 6 weeks ago & I believe in the 2nd week of this school year. We had to make a story, pics only, no words. The classroom is divided into two sections. Where an isle is available in the middle. The next day we had to get up & tell the story to the person in front of us. After 30+ Seconds, my row moves to the left, while the other side stays. Try to picture this b/c I don't know how to make a diagram of it. Though in my TV.com Profile has it. Go to the Pokemon Forums & look for someone called BAC510. Then go to "Blog Archive" & it should be one of the first 20 Blogs. I'll try to put up the link in a sec. Anyways, I ended up next to the girl I like, then her guy friend gently pushed her into me! & she rowed back & forth, constantly bumping into me & she didn't stop & she could have. She must like me or she is comfotable being next to me. After we had to move to the left, she is pushed into me again then once more.
3] The next one is sort of a wierd one: This happened about 2 weeks ago. We got 2 Phrases on 2 index cards & we had to find the match for them by asking people the Phrase & they give out their answer. You also have a third card, which is the answer to someone elses Phrase. After a minute has passed, I looked for someone else to say the phrase I had & I saw her alone & she saw me. She started to walk up to me & I got nervous. She then said: "Are you ready?", in a sort of low/high voice. She asked me her phrase & I asked my Phrase, no match! It doesn't seem like any sign, but I am just pointing it out.
4] This last one makes we wonder: There was a website that the class had to sign-up on. Its national just to let you know for schools. After a few days, I signed up. The teacher gave homework via the Website. I did it & I was first! The next day, the teacher said that 3 people did the homework: A girl, the girl I like, & me. But the teacher tried to remember the third person(me) & the girl I like said: "*my name* Did it". Does she have good memory like me or does she like me??
5] This is the last one & I almost forgot about it: Earlier this schoolyear(about the 3rd week), The guy behind the girl I like made fun of the Seniors in the class. He tried to find out who was a Senior & there was only 2: A girl to the right of me & me. They knew she was a Senior. Then a different guy next to the girl I like said my name & the girl I liked pointed at me & said my name. Once again, does she have good memory or does she LIKE me??? I am VERY shy in that class, so I hardly talk, only on assignments. Any clues? & Please, try to tell me the truth, don't tell me she likes me to make me feel good.
